Me
My photo collection includes 300 images, each measuring 27 × 37.15 cm and printed at the center of 50 × 60 cm transparent paper. The use of transparent paper is essential, as each piece is backlit—ultimately displayed in custom-built light boxes.
This project tells a story of time and distance. For 187 days, my best friend—a film director—and I were apart. He was in the U.S., and I remained in Iran. Back when he lived here, he used to read cinematic newspapers and magazines religiously. After he left, I began scanning and sending them to him as soon as they were published—whether I was at a party, fresh out of the shower, eating, smoking, laughing, or crying.
The first photo in the series is based on the first kiss I sent him from afar. It marks the beginning of a visual narrative shaped by the incommensurable distance between us—both in time and place.
